The Know. Care. Act. Framework

At Academy 4 Social Civics, we believe civic leaders need three things: knowledge, compassion, and the tools to act. Consider how each technology in your life supports or hinders these pillars.

Know

Students gain knowledge about societal systems, global challenges, and their role within their communities.

Care

Students develop a personal connection to the issues that matter most to them, understanding the broader impact of civic responsibility.

Act

Students build the skills and tools needed to translate their knowledge and passion into meaningful action and leadership.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Add a platform โ€” Enter any technology you use regularly (social media, AI tools, email, etc.)
  2. Add entries โ€” For each platform, add specific ways you use it. Ask yourself:
    • Is this Know (gaining/sharing information), Care (building connection/empathy), or Act (taking action)?
    • Is this Passive (consuming) or Active (creating/engaging)?
    • Does this Help or Hurt your civic voice?
  3. Reflect โ€” Use your map to identify patterns and set intentions for more mindful technology use.
